| It's more like a simplified hammer with just a few attack moves, it is weaker in raw attack power versus the Hammer and does not have charge attacks that require Stamina or a charge up bar like the Katana. I'm not versed with hunting horns but I'll share what I know of it so far, remember I may not be correct so please just view my post as reference to the many versions of a hunting horns uses. I'll leave out the controls of this weapon, only thing to note is that the R button is used to activate playing of the horn and the three positions play the 3 notes that the colour indicates. The different colour notes combined grants you different effects, some momenterily like attack ups and defence up. or ohhers which are permanent like healing de tox. I was only able to find the MH dos LIST. I suppose if used with cross reference to the Translation at Miracle Butterfly. the PS 2 version might be of some use. | |

| Well, IMO the weapons in MHdos are pretty well balanced so I would recommend you try out the weapons if you havn't already. If you wanted an opinion on weapons with ease of use, I'll suggest you try sword and shield, and the Great sword. | |

| Hunting horn is worthless alone, but it's the best support equipment when you play whith other people, cause you'll be able to heal them, cure poison, highen strength, stamina, power, defence, element gard, wind pressure... | |

| I would think a player that can wield the Hunting horn well a heck of a hunter! I cannot really agree with you on your opinion on using hunting horns. Not like I knew how to use them properly though! lol | |

| I like the sounds of tachi's. I would quite like a gunlance and bow as well. Seems like I am going to need a lot of money and resources. Oh well, Thanks, all of you. ADB | |

| Hunting horns are best used in a group, because you dont have a block abillaty, you need to always keep moving, no good when your trying to upgrade yourself. However if your hunting in a group you can get the monsters attention away from you and to one of your team mates with blocking abillarty. | |

| omfg dude i just found something out if u are playing notes and u change to a diff note and u hit something while doing this u will do masiv damage like i have bone horn and it takes 2-3 hits to kill a vilocipray but i was playing a note and 1 came up i switched notes 1 shot kill WOOT!!.. works best with the triangle+circle to circle but i havent tested much have fun with it they have fairly decent raw damage if u get the right 1 sharpness goes up fast! | |

| It is a matter of preference, A note on Hunting horn's use IMO rather effective even in solo. Weapons that has effects such as paralysis or elements when used in the hunting horn can be uitilized with moderate effect. Jab(circle) can be hit 3 time for a quick triple thrust. While you accumulate the elemental effect as it reacts, the jabs when hit on say, the Rathalos head also garners the stun effect. Thus you can work on dizzying a monster while working the elements in your favour.
Another practical application of the hunting horn is to first give yourself the speed buff, then rolling after every mega smash attack, rinse and repeat to deal fantastic damage without the fear of bouncing. | |

| yeah, on the horn training mission I got jumped by a giaprey and I did the note where you bring it over your head. And it took the prey right out of the sky. OZ what is speed buff and can you play notes to give elemental upgrades? | |
