| Wear armour taht is resistent to lightning, learn how it moves, (hops, lightning attack pattern) and most of all only attack it's head if possible.
There a few weapon reccomendation, hammers, hunting horns(mega smash) works well, LS if you are precise. Bows and guns if you can dodge it's charge attack fairly well.
If you ask me, I'll only exclude lances and gun lances when fighting Kirins, it's pretty hard to catch up to them with eiher weapons and while wyvern fire works fairly well against the kirin, it's easy to miss it.

| Best to use dragon, then fire or water.
If you are going to gun it, I recomend Shotgun(blood), if you're low rank, or Crinsom Blade Shower, if you're G-rank. Khezu(30 Thunder resitance) or Kirin(40 Thunder resitance) armour will do.
The way I fight it is basic, shoot, shoot, move, shoot, shoot, reload. I only use normal level 1 and 2 and Pellet Level 1 and 2, I kill almost every Kirin I fight before the pellets are used up.
The method has helped me kill over 60 Kirins.

| Well, as you already figured out, the elements plays a mino role here since kirin is not really weak against any element(dragon is but to minimum effect)
I'll try and find a longsword example for you guys

| Well, here's a video with the training school kirin stage set. I cannot say this is the best example but it appears that most still prefers to hammer away kirins in lieu of using the katana. However, the fundemental tactics are pretty clear here in this video. circle the kirin till you are positioned and ready as it turns and use that instance to launch your attack, roll to safety and if possible, aim only for the head. The key in many instances is to use the time the kirin takes to turn to you to prepare your attack, that in concept applies to every weapon on many monsters. Since you're using a katana, attack a little further away from the kirin and you can avoid getting nicked as well. http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=vltrStxv9Ns | |

| First question. Is he getting you with his attacks at all or is it just his roar that gets you killed. If it is just the roar then I can help. Farm garuga (the pokke chief one), then get the garuga mask (+6 hear protect). Then get like full tigrex (other than the helm) and get dual blades of water. Then add earplug jewels and grinder jewels. This means you will have fast sharpen and high grade plugs MAKE SURE OF IT. Basically get yourself high grade earplugs and it becomes incredibly easy. And use water. | |

And use water. I se you have devised a good setup for Khezu, IMO, aside the HGE, you'll mostly just need a good sharpness weapon(with water element if possible) and try to take out it's legs 1st. when you have the Khezu falling over easily, it's head is ready for picking. A thing or two to note on armour choices, it's probably better to focus on thunder resistance 1st before going for the skills since besides it's legs and tail, most parts can be attacked without bouncing with green or better sharpness. For me, I look at the skills. If one farms garuga, The option for a full set is present, however it'll require a grand total of 10 garuga ears to make a set of standard garuga armour(rare 4, 36 def base per piece, 10 thunder resist total) to couple it with HGE, and that not mentioning the need for a weapon with a least 1 slot(Garuga set total7 slots). If you were so swap out the head for a standard hornet head(bladesmaster, 22def 1 slot -5 thunder Earplug +5) you'll have HGE.. that is you sacrifice 5 thunder resist for it. With that. you'll have 3 thunder resist, def from around 200 and HGE, you can op to take out 2 ear plug jewels(thus, 4 less garuga ears) and use the 2 free slots for expert jewels. This setup has minimal thunder resist(3 points), improved sharpness(4 pieces garuga, chest, hand, tassat and feet. and if the expert jewels include and increased crit rate(reckless abandence +1).. you swap the need for 4 garuga ears for a monster fluid an 3 hornet heads aside other materials. All this..assuming he's only up to village *4~5, and have not hunted Azure los yet. Still it's still heavy on garuga ears(6 needed to make earplug jewels.) Now if he has access to azure Rathalos.. things would be different. Oh BTW, i avoid using Tigrex armour for the khezu

| yeah, the tigrex is what I used so it is the only answer I can use really. Still it makes you learn to dodge. cos if he hits me i'm fu**** | |

| Well, the reason I would avoid using tigrex when fighting khezu... is tha it's neagtive thunder resist so basically, you're courting death with that set as Khezu is deadly for it's thunder element attacks. | |

| i'd rather not oh a good armor is something like obituary or hornetear. cos it is pretty strong and it has good thunder res. but no plugs I dont think. so yeah, your best bet would be oz's garuga armor | |

| actually, I would think that later Khezu or if you're cheap. Gypceros armour is better. hornetuer is negative thunder... it's not useful unless you really want to pull some skill points. | |

| Well, I will want to know wha MHfan CAN make ATM before suggeting really, but it can be a little difficult to get a decent set of armour early on, most stuff only start to appear after you have the elder dragons in your bags. | |
