great sword is best you can block all its attacks and then get under it and do a never ending combo circle then triangle and circle and repeat and when it is landing you can get a full GS charge on it
that is exactly how i kill them

Circle t and let it miss you, attack only when it: Spits 3 Fireballs, Charge at you, Does a back flip. In other attacks like biting it recovers a little too quick to my liking, if you took out it's legs it'll fall over very oftenly, ensuring an easy kill.

i took on the gold rathian yesterday with a lance which was the 2nd time i had used it in battle and did quite well. lances plus mega juice are good

I'm supposing you had Guard plus? takes out damage and block stun time.

lol i had a dream last night about a rathalian it was rathian with a lions head and moved like lao i was chasing it then i woke up i just remembered it now
